IVCD International Venezuelan Council for Democracy and RECIVEX Civil Resistance of Venezuelan Abroad would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and supporters of Benazir Bhutto who was assassinated yesterday in Rawalpindi, as well as those victims killed during the associated suicide bombing.

IVCD and RECIVEX condemn these acts of terrorism and call for an open investigation into Bhutto’s assassination.

The people of Pakistan have a great challenge to face terrorism as they pursue democracy. Political, social, and economic reforms must continue to guarantee the return of democracy and promote changes amongst those who would hold Pakistan back.

This is a time for re-evaluation, unity and progress in Pakistan.

Benazir Bhutto has died; however the struggle for democracy and for a better Pakistan lives on.
