Digital Global Forum (DGF)

This space has been created by the Center for Political and Citizenship Formation, the UCAB's Democracy Project, the UCV's Center for Studies in Human Rights and Analitica.com to propose and debate openly and an agenda of political issues of national interest.

It's a Forum because is not a simple one-way page, where users can download the hanged papers to read and use. It's a Forum because readers and citizens can read the papers and see the author's video interviews, but also contact them and additionally participate sending opinions and proposals to each conference.

A commission will evaluate those proposals sent by the citizens, and if approved, will be part of the final products of the Forum: books, magazines, digital editions, etc., giving the credits to each one.

We want –by this way- to make really open and collective the construction of the new political, economical, social and cultural proposals we hope to offer to the Venezuelans as an alternative way to achieve our country facing the century XXI th.

The Forum is Global and Digital because thanks to the new technologies, thanks to Internet and thanks to Analitica.com, everybody can participate here o anywhere in the world, whenever be interested in the debate onto the political alternatives for Venezuela.

The first Forum is about decentralization and democracy. En the link above, ponencias, you can access to the papers made by a group of experts invited to Eurobuilding Hotel in Caracas in November the 12th 2007. This Forum is still open and will keep open for a prudential time while her coordinator, Mariela Morales-Antoniazzi, LL.M.Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute in Heidelberg, Germany, prepares the materials for the final printed product, a book edited on behalf of the DGF and the institutions who participated.

If you want to participate, do not hesitate to download the papers, read it, write a comment and send it to us by e-mail as soon as possible. Of you want to send a contribution, paper, article, please feel yourself invited to the Forum and let's do it.

If you belong to an NGO, a neighborhoods group, a social web or democratic political party and you want to organize one the forums in your community or your political space of action, we shall try –according to our possibilities- to provide a couple of experts and send them to debate with you and your group.

The second Forum will be about the Social Democracy as a Third Way for Venezuela. We have invited already a panel of experts and political leaders like Demetrio Boersner, Friedrich Welsch, Fernando Mires, Carlos Luna, Leopoldo López, Carlos Rojas and Carlos Tablante, although this is not a close list but an open one, and we could accept new participants and propositions. This Forum will be coordinated by Professor Oscar Reyes, Director of the UCAB's Democracy Project.

Some other Forums will be announced as soon as possible, but we are now designing two in particular: Identities and Democratic Culture, basic and superior education. Some other issues on public policies, public security, social security, international affairs, will be added during this year. Do not hesitate to suggest any other Forum, if you consider the list above can include another one.

After the failure of the so called Socialism of the Century XXI th, Venezuelans are waiting from they democratic leadership new projects concerned with poverty, public health, employment, public security, social security, etc., which should be democratic and efficient alternatives. In the opinion pools whenever you ask 'Would you like to live under the Socialism of the Century XXI th or in a Social Democracy?' people always prefer the last one. But immediately the citizens ask: By the way, and what is the Social Democracy? This ideological issue is core to our efforts at the CFPC, and together with some others we consider capital, we are going to make our best effort to foster our new political language, our ideas and our electoral platforms.
