elefantes, marfil

An African elephant herd on the move in Amboseli National Park, Kenya, in this photo provided by WWF on Monday, June 11, 2007. African nations struggled to compromise on competing trade treaty amendments for managing elephant populations, which are exploding in some countries and being poached to their limits in others. European officials mediating the talks, say southern African states, with groaning inventories of raw ivory, would be allowed to increase the size of an approved one-time sale in exchange for freezing all future sales for nine years, during the triennial meeting of the 171-nation Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, CITES, in The Hague, the Netherlands.
